    Nixon Delta Watch - Men's

If you are hitting the snow this season then this is a definate must. Not only will you not be late for the bus down the hill or you will know when the last run is but you can tell altitude and you can track your highet.

This little baby could almost run a small country so it has the features you require, and it doesn't look to bad either.

    Product Description
The Nixon Delta Watch is the ultimate timepiece. No other watch in the world can do what the Delta does. Altimeter watches have been around for years, but it took Nixon engineers and riders to design one that truly kicks ass. First of all, the Delta has 160 snowboard areas' base elevation pre-programmed into its software so whether you're at Mammoth, California; Chamonix, France; or 158 other mountains across four continents you can calibrate your watch to the precise elevation. Second, the Delta combines the world's first software with the precision of a Swiss barometric sensor that can detect a change in altitude as small as 3 feet per second. That means that when you pull off that huge air, you can rig your Delta to track your height, record the graph, and then show it off to your cronies après ski. The Delta is water resistant to 50m to boot. With all this technology, you'd expect the Delta to look like something the Math Club President would wear. Not so—the Delta's sporty but sophisticated style says V.I.P., not M.I.T. AVAILABLE FOR US SHIPMENT ONLY.

Bottom Line: How high can you get?

I have just gotten the delta. It is a very good watch, although it does have its down sides such as you have to go through all of the modes to get back to the beginning, which can get a bit annoying. Apart from that it is the best watch I have ever had. - tex

    Newbie

For all of those Newbie Snowboarders out there, this is the gear you need to hit the slopes. We have also included links to purchase the gear we recommend under each heading.

    Head Gear

Choose a helmet that fits your head snugly. Some helmets have more insulation than others, so make sure if there is little insulation you can fit a thin cap underneath for warmth. * Make sure the helmet is comfortable and you can easily move your head when wearing the helmet.

    Recommended: Giro Nine.9 Helmet
For Fun: Giro Nine.9 Audio Helmet

    Warm Clothing

The best way to stay warm and dry is to dress in layers. Cotton or natural fabrics against the skin allow for moisture to be kept away from the skin providing warmth. A nylon or other water resistant outer layer will prevent outside moisture for getting in against the skin. Clothing should be loose to allow movement.

Mens: Section Marc Frank Montoya Signature Jacket, Section Division Cargo Shell Pant, DAKINE Bronco GT Glove, Smith Fuse Regulator Series Goggle

Womens: DC Archangel Jacket, Volcom What A Hunk Pant - Women's, Level Matrix Glove - Women's, Smith Fuse Regulator Series Goggle

    Bindings

Bindings may step-in or strapped. Beginner snowboarders generally favour the step-in bindings, as they are easier to manage. They may not be practical for more advanced users as they tend to allow the foot to be released to easily. * Strapped bindings may have two or three straps to hold the foot to the board. They tighten using a ratchet method to hold the foot snug.

    Men: Flow Team Binding

Women: Flow Pro FS Snowboard Binding

    Boots

Boots, like all snowboard gear, need to fit correctly. Make sure you try on several styles to find the one that is most comfortable. Your heels should fit tightly in the boot but there should be no rubbing or discomfort when the boots are laced up. Walk around and bend in the boots to test their fit before choosing a pair.

    Men: K2 T1 Snowboard Boot

    Women: K2 Mink Snowboard Boot

    Board

The board should be the correct length and width based on your body size. It should come to the bottom of your chin and be wide enough to fit your feet.

    Men: K2 Eldorado LTD Snowboard

Women: Gnu Barrett Pro Snowboard - Women's

Don't think there is anything I have left out.

    The time draws near

The time is getting closer and closer till I take my next snowboarding trip. With the winter olympics running I feel the urge even more.

This time I am going in a group of so far about 5 people including myself, 3 people haven't skied or boarded before so they are definately going to be having some lessons.

    DogFunk.com Semi Annual Sale

So I can't wait to bring you more photos and reviews from the area. From what I can tell we will be staying in Queenstown so I'll be boarding Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Cardrona.

If you remember these were the three that I did last year, so hopefully this year there will be more snow, which should open up some more runs etc....

I have a major problem with channel 7 hear in Perth. For about 3 - 4 month prior to Torino 2006 starting they advertised how they would be showing it etc... From the advertisements the impression I got was that they would be showing it almost a prime time.

So what happens, well their telecast of the games doesn't go to air until 9:30pm. Which I find just a little unfair.

On that note I'm going to do some more work!

    Dale Begg-Smith

Dale Begg-Smith wins GOLD in Torino for Australia!

Dale Begg-Smith is not just a master of the moguls but also an internet entrepreneur. At 13 he started his web-based advertising company to fund his skiing.

As time went buy his company grew and he was unable to attend all the necessary ski camps that the Canadian team require you to attend. Which meant he was kicked of the team so to speak.

He then ended up skiing for Australia and one Gold.

    Too bad for Canada.

    K2 Cinch 05x Snowboard Binding

The K2 Cinch 05x Snowboard Binding is packed with performance and simplicity. Offering step-in-like ease and high-end handling, K2 takes this unique design to a new level. Instead of undoing both straps for entry and exit, you utilize the Cinch's moving highback that pops into place at the flick of a lever. Increased adjustability allows you to fine tune each aspect of fit for ultimate comfort and control. The new Cored Ergo highback and aluminum baseplate reduce weight. For all-day cruising, the Cinch 05x is equipped with leather Caddi ankle straps and K2's comfort toe strap - both are 3D-shaped to form to your boots and offer awesome support. Step away from step-ins and enjoy the stepped- up performance of the new Cinch 05x.

    Bottom Line: Step up.
I rode the Cinch when I demoed this binding last season and was amazed at the improvements that were made. The feel is amazing and totally customizable, easy entry, and great hold. K2 is only getting better every year. - Anonymous

I have used other strap-on bindings and K2 clicker bindings and these new K2 Cinch bindings are the bomb! The flip-down high back makes for easy entry and makes it almost like the Flow bindings, but with more adjustments. You don't have to sit down to strap in off the lift. Great support and easy entry. The best K2 snowboard binding yet! - Anonymous

As a former Flow user, I like the new Cinch system a bit better than the flow set up. Adjustability is easier with the hybrid design and it seems to hold my feet down a bit better. The binding does make a slight popping noise sometimes, but it doesn't seem to be a real problem and I don't notice it on the mountain, just at home where it's quiet when I'm adjusting my setup. Overall I'm pretty happy. - iShred

    K2 Illusion Snowboard

The K2 Illusion Snowboard makes your dreams of becoming a ripping rider a reality. Maybe you've been borrowing your buddy's board while you beg the 'rents for the cash to buy one of your own. Maybe you rented a board for your first few sessions. Either way, you know you're going to spend as much time on the snow as possible, and you're ready for your own ride. The Illusion is an ideal first board because it offers the stability you need as you increase your speed and move toward steeper slopes, thanks to its balanced Dual Progressive sidecut. The consistent-flexing Pure Wood core is soft enough that you won't be shot out of your first linked turns but solid enough to see you successfully through your first intermediate groomers. Next thing you know, you'll be out-shredding all your friends. *The leftmost image is the topsheet. The three images to the right are possible base colors. These are random, so cross your fingers!

Bottom Line: Ride the Illusion and live the dream.

This is only the 2nd board I’ve ever had, and considering the first I had was an ex-rental, anything would be better. I found turning on the K2 board so easy, like once you have learned to ride a bike you never forget and don’t have to think about it again. It does wonders for your confidence as it is a pleasure to handle and it makes boarding easy to learn. (My friend who had never boarded before was linking turns on it within 3 hours! or maybe it was my amazing instructing..) So happy shopping dudettes. - patso

    Torino 2006 Begins

This reminds me of when I did this in Swtizerland!

    Flying high in the freestyle.

As most of you would know the Winter Olympics started.

Yesterday we saw the Qualification runs for the Men's Halfpipe Final. Unfortunately no Australians have made it through to the final. Our three hopefuls Mitchell Allan, Andrew Burton & Ben Mates were unsuccessful. I personally haven't seen the runs yet, I think they are on TV tonight so I will be watching them with great interest.

The 6 riders that got through to the Final are split up from countries as follows: 3 USA, 2 Finland and 1 from Germany.

I will have more on Torino 2006 in upcoming posts. Until then have fun!

Section Division Hooded Insulated Jacket - Women's

Cold weather won't be a factor when you're decked out in the Section Women's Division Hooded Jacket. Sector lined this snowboarding jacket with 120 grams of synthetic insulation to chase the cold away and leave you warm and dry. The built-in wrist gaskets feature thumbholes, and can be worn inside your gloves to keep your pulse points even warmer. The powder skirt tucks away inside the jacket to stay out of your way when you don't need it. Sector treated the Division Hooded Jacket with DuPont HT Teflon so that snow and water bead off no matter how hard it's coming down.

Bottom Line: This jacket makes the arctic feel like the tropics.
I ordered this jacket because I get cold very easily. I wanted something thick, warm, and waterproof for icy climates but appropriate for tepid environments. I just got the jacket, and I think it will live up to my expectations. I can wear it in 40-50F weather without shivering, and with a fleece underneath I’m sure it will provide plenty of warmth in freezing temperatures. Plus, it's cute! Since this site provides no sizing chart, I took a chance by ordering a medium (I usually go for a large because I have long arms). However, the jacket was actually bigger than I thought (but I'm going to keep it anyway). Here are measurements for size Medium of the actual jacket, not of body measurements for a person : - length of arm from collar to wrist: about 30in - top of jacket to bottom (front): 26in - length of bottom of jacket (just below hips): 47in - size of jacket around bust area : about 39in Additional comments about the jacket: there are three additional pockets that are not mentioned. One is above the pass pocket, another inside the coat, and the last is on the back. It is also machine washable at certain temperatures. - inamorata

Volcom Tri Sector Jacket - Men's

It takes no stretch of the imagination to know that the Volcom Tri Sector Jacket rules. Stretch twill, functional pocketing, and undeniable Volcom steez team-up to let you stay in the snow longer. Everyone wants to play in the hills without giving up; the Tri Sector shelters you from harsh weather to keep you going when others yell retreat. Scientific development, utilizing the newest Volcom engineering, results in a jacket that comes equipped with an Anatomical Technical lining. This multi-pieced lining moves moisture and vents where needed. Some of the best riders in the world, the Volcom Snow team, choose the tri Sector because of its awesome Zip-Tech system. With Zip-Tech you can attach your Tri Sector jacket straight to your Volcom pants to create a personal snow-blocking fortress. While out on maneuvers you'll feel safer with your built-in Recco reflector, you're lost without it.

Bottom Line: Utilize the Tri Sector jacket to dominate the mountains.
I purchased this jacket and I couldn't be happier. It has every feature that I've ever wanted and more and I really like the design as well. I just ordered the matching Tri Sector pants and I can't wait to get them, which will no doubt be very soon since I ordered it from you guys. I can't believe how fast you shipped my order! - Justin from NorCal
